In your practice, at what age do you place a newborn in the phototherapy tunnel? Are you used to putting technical babies in it??
In our practice, we put a baby who has severe hyperbilirubinemia in a tunnel, very severe, from 34–35 weeks of gestational age, rather 35, technical or not, there is no problem.
Moreover, often they are technically babies since there is still a risk of exanguino. Very often, they have been technically engineered beforehand. So they have a central line, for example in the heart. They all have general monitoring systems or brain function that allow us to actually see how things are evolving and intervene if necessary.
